Biography
 Gordon Neumann is the little known author of the metafictional autobiography "The Life and Times of Igor Smith " and the book of poetry "Confessions of a Prodigal Son." Neumann is also a combat veteran of the Vietnam War and a
journalism graduate of Wayne State University--having also attended the University of Michigan for three
years.
As a Taoist-Buddhist-Baptist with a 100% PTSD rating from the VA,
Neumann prefers a life of anonymity and seclusion. As Neumann puts it, "I don't mean to violate anybody---but
I don't mean to be violated--my ambition derives meaning from beyond the materialism of this dimension." As a
wounded trooper with the lst Air Cavalry Division, Neumann had a near-death, out-of-body experience
that still remains as the most profound motivation of his
life.
"My poetry is my alibi to my maker," says Neumann, who is a firm
believer in the existence of disembodied thought--because he remembers being exactly that. Neumann writes
about a poem a day--as he says, "in self-defense"--and has written over a thousand in the past three
years--"sometimes hypervigilance can produce some positive results," says
Neumann.

Consoled
Holy mystique and hurt
don’t fit,
but pain is real
if that is what you feel,
life in this dimension
has its limitations
that are always changing,
be well,
within the dream of love,
separation is but an illusion,
a phantom omen
of a fog-covered moon,
while truth flows heart-to-heart,
transcendent of ego’s confusion
of too much information,
the destination of soul’s attraction
to worthy emotion
will not be denied
by lesser forces meanly contrived,
such is the divine lesson,
even as you are seemingly alone,
be so consoled,
and comforted.

Part of the
Whole
Fear races
through all of the ego’s alternatives,
and I know
I have betrayed my soul
to a world of separation,
fluxuating emotion
wavering within a false imagination
away from my holy origin
and rightful destination,
such is the conflict of many disguises
that cripples
the joyful spontaneity of my authentic self,
as I cease to exist
amidst my own cleverness,
leaving me in my bewilderment
gasping for breath,
grasping for any meaning
of my physical being,
attaching to a fragile label
that doesn’t last too long
in time’s confines so fickle,
so mortal,
but still,
while remaining a loved part of the Whole.

Surrendering to Synchronicity
Slipping into silence,
sliding into synchronicity
with the Universe…
Rama…Rama…Rama…
deep into the rhythm of life,
diaphramic breathing,
autonomous heart beating,
flowing to the inner beyond,
floating purple blobs
forming and dissolving
before the third eye…
Sutra…Sutra…Sutra…
quiet release allowing
the larger Self to speak
gentle whispers
coaxing surrender…
Om Mani Padme Hum…
the message of peace must be kindled
from mind to mind,
as a flaming torch passed
from heart to heart,
touching soul to soul
that drifted apart,
to again become part
of the Whole,
sweet lotus contains the heat-hardened gem,
in spite of endured and impending storm,
and also assuming the myriad cost
of many a horrible humbling holocaust…
all is well.

The Prodigal Soul
The ego leads to a scary land
of fear and anger
and promiscuous desire
of false promises,
within an agenda of vanishing vendetta
of hurt and pain,
a mind of illusory worry,
all alone,
that denies a living piece of God,
the loving peace of God,
with prodding premises
that perplex and betray,
so astray in a world of material dichotomy,
away from holy tranquility
that is eternal reality
beckoning from afar,
and so near,
always waiting for divine reunion
for the prodigal soul and the Tao
to become one.
